1. Information We Collect

Account Information: Email address and encrypted password (managed by Firebase Authentication). We do not store your password in plaintext.

Wellness Data: Cough analysis results, voice test durations, wellness check scores, and lifestyle habit entries that you choose to record. This data is stored in your private Firebase account.

Audio Recordings: Audio is processed locally on your device for analysis. Raw audio is NOT uploaded to or stored on any server.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to provide you with wellness tracking features within the app. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for commercial purposes.

3. Anonymous Research Data (Opt-In Only)

If you voluntarily opt into research contribution during sign-up, the following anonymous numerical data is collected in a separate database with no link to your account:

Collected: Cough duration (seconds), decibel levels, frequency (Hz), intensity scores, pattern classifications, voice hold duration, self-reported breathing ratings, cough frequency ratings, and daily cigarette counts.

Not collected: No audio recordings, no email addresses, no account IDs, no IP addresses, no device information, no precise timestamps, no free-text notes. Each submission uses a random anonymous identifier that cannot be traced to any user.

This data may be used in aggregate for academic wellness research. No individual data point can identify a specific person. You can use the app fully without opting in.

4. Data Storage & Security

Data is stored using Google Firebase with industry-standard encryption. Database security rules ensure that each user can only read and write their own data. No other user or administrator can access your personal wellness records through the app. The anonymous research dataset is write-only — it cannot be read by any app user.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

You may export your data at any time using the Export function. You may request account and data deletion by contacting us. Upon deletion, all associated data will be permanently removed within 30 days. Note: anonymous research data cannot be deleted as it contains no identifying information linking it to any specific user.

6. Cookies & Tracking

Medli does not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers. Firebase may use session cookies for authentication purposes only.

7. Children's Privacy

Medli is not intended for use by individuals under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Medli, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the application.

2. Nature of the Service

Medli is a wellness tracking tool for educational and informational purposes only. Medli is NOT a medical device, NOT FDA-approved, and NOT intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition.

All analysis results, scores, and assessments are rough informational estimates based on basic audio signal processing. They have NO diagnostic validity and should NEVER be used as a substitute for professional medical evaluation.

3. No Medical Advice

Nothing in this application constitutes medical advice. You should not rely on any information provided by Medli to make health decisions. Always seek the guidance of a qualified healthcare provider with any questions regarding a medical condition.

4. Assumption of Risk

You acknowledge that: (a) Medli's analysis is not clinically validated; (b) results may be inaccurate; (c) you will not use Medli as a replacement for medical screening or diagnosis; (d) you use the application entirely at your own risk.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Medli and its creators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the application. This includes but is not limited to damages for loss of health, data, or profits.

6. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate information and to not share your account with others.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: (a) attempt to reverse-engineer or tamper with the application; (b) use the service for any unlawful purpose; (c) misrepresent Medli's results as medical diagnoses; (d) upload malicious content.

8. Intellectual Property

All code, design, and content within Medli is the property of its creators. You retain ownership of your personal wellness data.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time.

10. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by applicable law in your jurisdiction. Any disputes shall be resolved through good faith negotiation before pursuing legal remedies.

11. Changes

We may modify these terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
